Yastika Bhatia Powers TKR to Dominant Nine-Wicket WCPL 2026 Victory

The Trinbago Knight Riders continued their unbeaten start to the 2026 Limacol Women’s Caribbean Premier League with a commanding nine-wicket victory over the Jamaica Empress at Kensington Oval.

Yastika Bhatia produced a match-winning unbeaten half-century as TKR chased down their target with an astonishing 53 balls remaining, securing their second consecutive victory of the WCPL 2026 season.

It was a complete performance from the Knight Riders, who first restricted the Jamaica Empress to 100/9 before making light work of the run chase.

Bhatia Takes Control of the TKR Run Chase

Bhatia led the way from the top of the order, striking an unbeaten 57 from only 34 deliveries.

The Indian opener controlled the chase superbly, punishing loose deliveries while ensuring the required run rate never became an issue for TKR.

Laura Harris was the only Knight Riders batter dismissed. She was stumped after being beaten by a sharply turning delivery from South African spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba.

However, by the time Harris departed with the score at 35/1 at the end of the fifth over, the Knight Riders were already firmly in control.

TKR captain Deandra Dottin joined Bhatia and quickly shut down any hopes of a Jamaica Empress comeback. Dottin smashed 22 from 15 balls as the pair produced an unbeaten 69-run partnership to complete the dominant victory.

Finishing the chase with nearly nine overs remaining underlined just how comprehensively the Knight Riders controlled the match.

Karishma Ramharack Leads Disciplined TKR Bowling Attack

The foundation for TKR’s victory was established by an excellent performance from their bowling unit.

After being sent in to bat, the Jamaica Empress suffered an early double blow when they lost two wickets from successive deliveries during the second over. One of those wickets was the prized scalp of former Australia captain Meg Lanning.

With their top order under immediate pressure, the Empress struggled to build meaningful partnerships or generate momentum throughout the innings.

Rashada Williams attempted to hold the innings together with a patient 40 from 47 deliveries, but she received limited support from the other batters.

Chinelle Henry, who had played a starring role in the Empress’ dramatic victory in their WCPL debut, finished unbeaten on 22. Despite those contributions, Jamaica could only reach 100/9 from their allotted 20 overs.

Karishma Ramharack was the standout performer for the Knight Riders.

The Trinidad and Tobago spinner delivered four outstanding overs, taking three wickets for only 11 runs. Her accuracy, control and ability to apply pressure earned her the Player of the Match award.

Ramharack’s spell was at the centre of a disciplined TKR bowling performance that prevented the Empress from recovering after their early setbacks.

TKR Send a Strong WCPL 2026 Message

Two matches, two victories and another dominant performance—the Trinbago Knight Riders have made an impressive start to their WCPL 2026 campaign.

While Bhatia’s unbeaten half-century will attract plenty of attention, the balance of the Knight Riders’ performance will be particularly encouraging for the team.

TKR combined early wickets, economical bowling, controlled batting and explosive finishing to overpower a Jamaica Empress side containing several experienced international players.

The nine-wicket result also demonstrated the depth of a Knight Riders squad featuring influential players such as Dottin, Ramharack and Bhatia.

What Comes Next for TKR and Jamaica Empress?

The Trinbago Knight Riders will next face the Guyana Amazon Warriors as they attempt to extend their unbeaten run and strengthen their position in the WCPL 2026 competition.

Jamaica Empress, meanwhile, have a game in hand and will look to recover when they face the Barbados Tridents in their next match.

For TKR, the message from Kensington Oval was emphatic: the Knight Riders are unbeaten, confident and emerging as a serious force in the battle for the 2026 WCPL title.
