🇹🇹 Yorke Refreshes Trinidad & Tobago Squad for Crucial World Cup Qualifiers vs Bermuda & Curaçao

Trinidad and Tobago head coach Dwight Yorke has announced four changes to his 26-man squad ahead of decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Bermuda (October 10) and Curaçao (October 14). With the Soca Warriors still seeking their first win of the final round, Yorke has turned to form players and fresh faces to spark the campaign.

🆕 New Faces & Key Returns

Making their way into the squad are Deron Payne, Molik Jesse Khan, Jabari Brice, and Isaiah Lee.

  • Deron Payne, a 23-year-old Dutch-born right-back from FC Volendam, is set for his international debut after missing the last window through injury.
  • Molik Khan, the 21-year-old midfielder from AS Trenčín (Slovakia), joins in superb club form — six goals in 12 games this season.
  • Central FC duo Brice (goalkeeper) and Lee (forward) return, with Lee hoping to add to his 14 caps and three international goals.

❌ Notable Omissions

Veterans Marvin Phillip, Sheldon Bateau, and Joevin Jones were not included, while Darnell Hospedales, Isaiah Garcia, and Kaihim Thomas also miss out. The changes signal Yorke’s desire to inject energy and competition into the squad.

⚽ Must-Win Window Ahead

After two matches in Group B, Trinidad and Tobago sit third with one point, behind Jamaica (6) and Curaçao (4). With only the group winners advancing automatically — and the two best second-place teams heading to intercontinental playoffs — Yorke’s men face a critical task.

The October 10 clash in Bermuda is viewed as a must-win for T&T, before a tough away test in Willemstad four days later. The team is currently in a Miami training camp, set to travel to Bermuda on October 8.

🔥 Club Form Boosts Confidence

Several players enter camp in strong form:

  • Levi Garcia scored twice for Spartak Moscow last week, including in the Russian Cup.
  • Dante Sealy continues his MLS hot streak for CF Montréal, scoring from two stunning free kicks in recent weeks.
  • Kevin Molino, back from suspension, netted a long-range goal to send Defence Force into the Concacaf Caribbean Cup semifinals.
  • Rio Cardines recently made his European debut for Crystal Palace in the UEFA Conference League.

These performances give Yorke reason for optimism as he searches for goals and momentum in T&T’s World Cup journey.
