🇹🇹 TTFA Mourns Former U-17 Standout Tyrek James After Tragic Passing
đź’” A Sad Day for Trinidad & Tobago Football
The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association has confirmed heartbreaking news that has sent shockwaves through the local football community — former national Under-17 player Tyrek James has tragically passed away following a motor vehicle accident.
At EXTV, we don’t just report football… we tell the stories behind the players. And today is one of those moments that reminds us how fragile life truly is.
🇹🇹 A Player Who Wore the Badge with Pride
Tyrek James represented Trinidad & Tobago during the 2014–2015 U-17 cycle, a key period that helped shape a generation of national talent.
He was part of the squad that competed at the Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Championship 2015 in Guatemala under Head Coach Shawn Cooper, with Devin Elcock also part of the technical setup.
This wasn’t just any squad — this was a group that laid the foundation for several players who would go on to represent the senior national team.
âš˝ From Youth Promise to National Impact
That 2015 team included names Trinidad & Tobago fans know today:
- Noah Powder
- John-Paul Rochford
- Keston Julien
- Isaiah Garcia
- Darnell Hospedales
It also included Tekay Hoyce, whose passing earlier this year already left the football fraternity in mourning.
Now, the community is once again forced to grieve… and it hits hard.
🗣️ TTFA President Responds
TTFA President Kieron Edwards shared this message:
“On behalf of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association, we extend heartfelt condolences to Tyrek’s family, friends, former teammates and loved ones at this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and may his soul rest in peace.”
🙏 More Than Just a Player
At EXTV, we always say — football is more than just 90 minutes.
Tyrek James wasn’t just a name on a team sheet. He was part of a brotherhood. A generation. A dream that every young footballer in Trinidad & Tobago shares — to represent the red, white and black.
Moments like this remind us how connected the football community really is.
đź’¬ From the EXTV Family
We extend our deepest condolences to Tyrek’s family, friends, teammates and everyone affected by this loss.
Gone too soon… but never forgotten.
