Trinidad & Tobago international Levi García added another major trophy to his growing career after FC Spartak Moscow secured a dramatic Russian Cup triumph with a 4-3 penalty shootout victory over FC Krasnodar following a tense 1-1 draw at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Garcia entered the match in the 65th minute, replacing Manfred Ugalde as Spartak pushed for a winner during a tightly contested final. The Trinidad & Tobago forward played an important role in Spartak’s attacking movement late in the match as the Russian giants battled through extra pressure from Krasnodar before eventually prevailing in the penalty shootout.
Spartak initially took the lead through Pablo Solari in the 36th minute after an assist from Ezequiel Barco, but Krasnodar responded in the second half through Augusto Douglas to level the contest at 1-1. After neither side could find a decisive winner, the final was settled from the penalty spot where Spartak held their nerve to secure the trophy.
According to Sofascore, Garcia earned a solid 7.0 Sofascore rating after coming off the bench during the final, continuing his positive contributions during his debut season in Russian football.
The celebrations after the final whistle produced one of the most bizarre moments of the night. As Spartak celebrated lifting the crystal Russian Cup trophy, the lower section of the silverware unexpectedly detached before the lid also broke off and crashed to the ground. Despite the trophy mishap, the players continued celebrating passionately as fans erupted inside Luzhniki Stadium.
The victory secured Spartak Moscow’s fifth Russian Cup title and further strengthened their reputation as one of the most successful clubs in Russian football history. For Garcia, it marks another major achievement for one of Trinidad & Tobago’s top football exports as he continues to make his mark in Europe.
