Tim Seifert struck the first century of the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League as the Saint Lucia Kings defeated the Trinbago Knight Riders by 36 runs at Queen’s Park Oval.
Seifert produced a sensational unbeaten 105 to propel the Kings to 211 for four—the highest total of CPL 2026 so far. Roston Chase then delivered a decisive three-wicket spell as the defending champions secured back-to-back victories and moved to the top of the standings.
Seifert leads blistering Kings start
After being sent in to bat by TKR, the Kings immediately placed the home side’s bowling attack under pressure.
Seifert and Kamil Pooran powered Saint Lucia to 64 for one from the opening six overs. Their aggressive PowerPlay included 11 fours, despite the Kings failing to hit a six during that period.
Seifert continued to control the innings, finding gaps around Queen’s Park Oval and forming valuable partnerships with Pooran, John Campbell and Charith Asalanka.
TKR struggled to break those partnerships or slow the scoring rate. Abdul-Raheem Toppin and Dominic Drakes endured particularly difficult spells, with both conceding more than 16 runs per over.
The Kings found at least one boundary in 18 of their 20 overs, maintaining their momentum throughout the innings.
Asalanka accelerates before Seifert reaches century
Charith Asalanka provided a late surge during the 17th over, smashing Drakes for three consecutive sixes as Saint Lucia pushed towards the third 200-plus total of CPL 2026.
Seifert then completed the first century of the tournament and his second CPL hundred for the Kings. The milestone came against a TKR side he represented for three seasons.
He finished unbeaten on 105 as Saint Lucia posted an imposing 211 for four.
TKR make strong start to record chase
Chasing 212 for victory, the Knight Riders needed an explosive beginning—and Colin Munro and Sunil Narine delivered exactly that.
Munro’s powerful stroke play energized the Queen’s Park Oval crowd as the opening pair guided TKR to 56 without loss at the end of the PowerPlay.
The match changed dramatically in the eighth over, however, when Chase claimed three wickets in four deliveries.
Narine, Matthew Breetzke and Nicholas Pooran were all dismissed during the decisive spell, leaving TKR’s chase in serious trouble.
Joshua Bishop then removed Munro for 48, with Chase taking the catch to continue his influential performance.
Pollard resistance ended by Matthew Forde
Kieron Pollard attempted to revive TKR’s hopes with a powerful late assault, striking the ball around Queen’s Park Oval and briefly restoring belief among the home supporters.
The required rate remained steep, but the Knight Riders still had a chance while Pollard was at the crease.
Matthew Forde delivered the crucial breakthrough, forcing Pollard into a top edge before safely completing the return catch. Forde and Keon Gaston then closed out the match as TKR finished 36 runs short of the Kings’ total.
Saint Lucia Kings move top of CPL 2026 standings
The victory gave Saint Lucia consecutive wins and lifted the Kings to the top of the CPL 2026 table.
Seifert’s unbeaten century provided the foundation, while Chase’s match-changing figures of three for 24 destroyed TKR’s early momentum and ensured the Kings successfully defended the tournament’s highest total.
For the Knight Riders, Munro’s 48 and Pollard’s late hitting offered encouragement, but the loss of three wickets in four balls proved too damaging to overcome.
