REPUBLIC BANK ANNOUNCED AS THE TITLE SPONSOR OF CPL T20

Republic Bank Limited has been announced as the new Title Sponsor and Official Bank of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the next three (3) years. Republic Bank has also been confirmed as a partner for the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) which will return in 2023 for its second edition, the first edition was won by the Trinbago Knight Riders women’s team.

Pete Russell, CEO of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, said: “Republic Bank have been part of the CPL family since 2015, helping to grow the tournament to the 2nd most watched league, globally. And of course, we both share many of the same goals. We help develop local talent who go on to compete on the global stage. We both bring economic value to the region with investment in the markets we operate in and of course we both help facilitate joy and excitement for the many cricket fans across the Caribbean, by investing in the sport we all love.”

Nigel Baptiste, Group President and Chief Executive Officer for the Republic Group, said: “We know better than anyone what this sport, cricket, means to our people. On every island in the Caribbean, you’ll find children playing cricket matches with a bat, a makeshift wicket and a windball. Indeed, many of us have memories of our entire family sitting around that one living room television or radio, riveted for days by test matches.  We know what it is like to hold our breath and pray earnestly to a higher being for our team to win a T20. It is my humble opinion that David Rudder’s “Rally Round the West Indies” is the de facto anthem of our region.

He also stated that: “This is not just a sponsorship. For Republic Bank, it is an investment. An investment that demonstrates to the World the Caribbean’s capability and prowess, illustrates our talent and future potential and showcases our joyous and incomparable spirit.”

The 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League will run from August 16 to September 24. This year will also see the return of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League.
