Cricket legend Dwayne Bravo, also known as DJ Bravo, has officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Reflecting on his decade-long tenure with the Trinbago Knight Riders, Bravo expressed his deep respect for the franchise, praising its passion, professionalism, and family-like environment. In an emotional statement on Instagram, Bravo shared the physical toll the sport has taken on his body, stating, “My mind wants to keep going, but my body can no longer endure the pain, the breakdowns, and the strain.” With a heavy heart, he concluded, “The Champion bids farewell.” As Bravo transitions from playing to mentoring, he leaves behind a legacy that has inspired cricket fans worldwide.
Bravo announced ahead of the current CPL season that it would be his final appearance. Although he was set to participate in the third season of the UAE’s ILT20 with MI Emirates, Bravo has chosen to retire following a groin injury sustained during a match against St Lucia Kings in Tarouba on Tuesday.
As the most decorated player in CPL history, Bravo’s legacy includes five championship titles, three of which he secured with the Trinbago Knight Riders. He notably led TKR to consecutive titles in 2017 and 2018 before guiding the Patriots to their first-ever title in 2021.
