Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have announced the retirement of Dwayne Bravo’s No. 47 jersey, making him the first player in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) history to receive the honour.
The announcement, made on 29 August 2026 in Port of Spain, recognises Bravo’s contribution to TKR, the CPL and cricket in Trinidad and Tobago.
For TKR fans, No. 47 will remain a permanent tribute to a player and coach who helped shape the franchise’s championship history.
Dwayne Bravo’s CPL Legacy
According to TKR’s announcement, Bravo is the most decorated player in CPL history, winning five titles as a player before adding a sixth championship as TKR head coach.
Across his CPL playing career, the Trinidadian all-rounder appeared in 107 matches and took 129 wickets, finishing his career as the tournament’s all-time leading wicket-taker.
Bravo was a central figure in TKR’s title-winning campaigns, helping establish the Knight Riders as the CPL’s most successful franchise.
From Champion Player to TKR Head Coach
Bravo retired from playing cricket in 2024 after a career that established him as one of T20 cricket’s most influential all-rounders.
His connection with the Knight Riders continued when he became head coach, taking his experience and leadership into the dugout.
Retiring his jersey recognises both chapters of that journey: his achievements on the field and his continued contribution to the franchise as a coach.
Knight Riders Pay Tribute to Bravo
Announcing the decision, Venky Mysore, CEO of the Knight Riders group, said:
“Dwayne Bravo’s contribution to the Knight Riders and to the CPL is impossible to measure. Retiring No. 47 is our way of ensuring that his legacy will forever be a part of this franchise. There could be no more fitting player to become the first in CPL history to receive this honour.”
The No. 47 jersey will now serve as a lasting symbol of Bravo’s place in TKR history, marking an unprecedented honour in the Caribbean Premier League.
