TKR/CPL Trinidad T20 Festival Goes to the Oval details!

Many people, since the official announcement was made that the T20 Festival was going to take place had lots of questions about what the tournament is about, dates, times etc. Well in the latest official release from the Trinbago Knight Riders media team, they break it all down.

Defending champions Central Sports will face Bess Motors Marchin Sports in the
second match of a double-header when the first Trinbago Knight Riders/Caribbean
Premier League sponsored Trinidad T20 Festival bowls off on Friday, April 26th.
The match-up follows the opening fixture from 3:00pm between Queen’s Park
Cricket Club and Merryboys as the leading club competition returns to the iconic,
Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain, after several years.

According to the fixtures released on Friday (March 8th), the Premiership I teams
are in two groups which will be engaged in a nine-consecutive day-night series
from April 26th to May 4th.

Group “A” will comprise former winners Queen’s Park Cricket Club, Bess Motors
Marchin Patriots, Premier II winners last year; newly promoted Merryboys Sports
Club, and title-holders Central Sports.
Group “B” comprises last year’s beaten finalists, Powergen Penal Sports Club,
Profilbau Victoria United, Preysal Sports Club, and Clarke Road United.

Apart from the main competition featuring the Premier I teams, there will be a
Premier II competition prior to the TKR/CPL Trinidad T20 Festival to determine
the best four teams to contest the semi-finals and final for the second tier clubs.
At the launch of the T20 Festival on February 27th, it was announced that the top
local cricketers will be making themselves available, as well as several overseas
stars who have been campaigning for their respective franchises.
